About the role

Our Medical Directors are strategic scientific partners to our pharmaceutical/biotechnology clients, leading creation and implementation of high-quality, innovative, strategic medical communication, expert engagement, and education programs. Our Medical Directors are focussed on developing medical strategy within client programmes and as part of new business proposals and pitches. They are also responsible for developing medical expertise within our agency. They are people-focussed and enjoy line management and mentoring staff to support their growth.
 

Your responsibilities

  • Leadership in developing medical strategy and medical expertise within our agency
  • Lead scientific partner to clients and faculty across a portfolio of accounts
  • Strategic medical consultancy to support our clients’ business goals and the growth of our agency
  • A leader in the creation and delivery of a broad range of medical communication services for clients
  • Leadership in our delivery of consistently high-quality medical content as part of client work, business development activities, and internal training activities
  • Build strong relationships with clients, Key Medical Experts and professional organizations (e.g. medical societies, medical education partners, scientific congress organizations) to support Excerpta Medica and our clients’ needs
  • Contribute to developing innovative business ideas and services, including their implementation.
  • Be a leader in the adoption of new technologies in our work and client projects
  • Contribute significantly to win new business through proposals and pitches
  • Manage and coach/mentor medical staff, supporting their professional development and growth in the company

Requirements, skills, and qualifications for this role

  • Advanced medical or research qualifications (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) and extensive experience in senior medical function in an agency or pharma/biotech setting
  • Extensive work experience in pharmaceutical industry or medical communication agency
  • Experience in medical education, medical affairs strategy and support, Key Medical Expert engagement, and publication planning experience a plus
  • Demonstrable strategic consultancy ability
  • Strong client management skills
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior medical staff
  • Work experience in hospital/clinic or equivalent setting a plus
  • Strong, confident communication skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
